Obituary of Mrs. Ruth A. Martin

RUTH ANN MARTIN was born March 19, 1929 in Siquirres, Limón Province, Costa Rica to Fredrick and Sara Beckford. She was the fourth child and the last born in Costa Rica. At a very young age, her family migrated to Jamaica where her remaining four siblings were born and she received her formal education through middle school.

Ruth came from St. James Parish, near Montego Bay, where she met the love of her life in Kingston, Vincent Gladstone Martin. They had a very short courtship then united in holy matrimony, October 5, 1949. To this union, six children were born. 

Ruth was called to eternal rest on February 5, 2024, surrounded by family. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, beloved daughter, Joy Webb, and loving husband, Vincent Martin.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her five sons, Clayton (Colleen) Martin of North Andover, MA; Henry Martin of Milton, FL; Howard (Nina) Martin of Waukegan, IL; Everton (Karla) of Colgate, WI; Milton (Faith) Martin; one daughter, Claudette (Horace) Green of Fort Lauderdale, FL; twenty-six grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
